S.E.R.V. Niagara's mission is to S.E.R.V. - Support, Empower, Respect, Veterans and their families. Transitional AND Permanent Housing to open in Spring 2014! Before veterans in need can fully benefit from therapeutic programs, skills training, or any other service, they have to have their basic human needs of food, clothing, and shelter met. The "Basic Human Needs" build a strong foundation of trust upon which other services can lead lead our veteran heroes onto the path of self-sufficiency. S.E.R.V. Niagara's two main objectives are: * Establish Niagara County's first veteran-exclusive transitional house * Provide permanent supportive housing for veterans and their families Our housing solutions not only provide much needed quality services and programs known to prevent relapse and homelessness, but we render them in a humane, compassionate, and dignified manner. Many of the overwhelming challenges our veterans face are: * Addiction * PTSD and other Traumas * Chronic Homelessness * Transportation to Appointments * Combat Related and Other Injuries * Unemployment/Underemployment * Family Support * Mental Health Illness * Other Misfortunes Through partnerships and affiliations with agencies and organizations across WNY, S.E.R.V. Niagara is also able to present temporary and emergency housing solutions, employment assistance, scholarships, and supportive assistance in dealing with substance abuse and rehabilitation issues. S.E.R.V. Niagara Programs & Services: Comments on the Military and Business Ownership As a military brat who experienced "extreme" circumstances I was able to witness the facets of substance abuse, PTSD, violence, homelessness and poverty, and how it affected our entire family. These experiences and the severe lack of services and resources, are what prompted me to found S.E.R.V. Niagara to provide for, and benefit our veteran heroes AND their families.
