  • Veterans For Diversity

    Non-Profit Organization
    West Allis, WI 53227-1232

Veterans for Diversity was originally Vets Do Ask Do Tell, formed in 2008 to support LGBT veterans. The name was change at the end of DADT to be more inclusive. Our focus has changed to emotional healing and veteran educational assistance. Moving forward we are reaching out to these veterans through programs that educate the public such as our Diversity Seminars and Guest Speakers, healing retreats and a scholarship fund to suppliment our veterans education. We have expanded our board of directors and staff to support these programs. Be part of this movement by volunteering, becoming a member or donating to our programs. Let's show our veterans we care. All members and staff are volunteers, and there are no paid positions, all funds are in support of our veterans. Comments on the Military and Business Ownership I am one of the founders of the organization. Myself and two other founders saw a need in helping LGBT veterans get over the stigma of Don't Ask Don't Tell and the fears of the VA carrying forward the policy. Since 2008 we have grown from a website providing information to a national organization helping veterans with services provided by the VA.

Operation Charlie Mike is a 501(c)3 non-profit that assists all generations of veterans who are struggling with the invisible wounds of war. "Charlie Mike" is the military phonetic for "continue mission." After military service many veterans deal with suicidal ideology, homelessness, substance abuse issues and employment issues. Our goal is to help Veterans help themselves by assisting them in finding the resources to reengage in their lives and the lives of their families. We do not provide a hand out, but a hand up. Operation Charlie Mike empowers veterans to find and maintain housing, employment and help to obtain the educational and health care benefits they have earned. Comments on the Military and Business Ownership As founder of Operation Charlie Mike, I am a wounded, disabled veteran myself. I served two tours in Iraq as an infantry team leader and was wounded during combat action. I have experienced and have overcome many of the issues many veterans are suffering from today. My only goal through Operation Charlie Mike is to empower other veterans to live a life of dignity after military service.

  • Talk To A Veteran

Talk To A Veteran is different from any other veteran's charity organization. First, it is "veterans helping veterans" giving advice and tips to recently returned young veterans who are re-entering civilian life. The value of learning from another veteran on what problems to expect upon being discharged and how to handle them is invaluable. Second, funds raised are used to directly pay utility bills, rent, etc. to transition veterans into civilian life to reduce the financial stress on top of all the other stress which they already are experiencing. Comments on the Military and Business Ownership The military experience of mission critical behavior gives focus and direction to a civilian business activity.
