Supporting this organization ensures local veterans are able to receive equine therapy at no cost to themselves. All donations go directly to benefit the veterans. Victory Therapeutic Horsemanship was founded by a twenty year Army veteran with multiple combat tours. Having suffered through many physical injuries, several TBI, and severe PTSD; he knows first hand the benefits of equine therapy. He is proof that therapeutic riding works. Studies are showing suicide at a horrific rate among veterans at 22 a day. It was only through a therapeutic riding program that the founder discovered the will to keep fighting and not become just another statistic. We know the advantages of these programs and am now bringing those experiences as a disabled vet, rider, program volunteer, and instructor to Pennsylvania. "Hopefully I can assist some of my peers the same way I was helped." Comments on the Military and Business Ownership I was a twenty year Army veteran with multiple combat tours. It was during my medical retirement due to my injuries that I discovered my next calling. I now continue to serve veterans and feel I have an unique perspective that shows in all we do.

  • A Different View Equine Center

    Non-Profit Organization
    Pleasant Garden, NC 27313

A Different View Equine Center is a registered 501c3 nonprofit organization. We survive on private donors, local grants, and our amazing volunteers. We have no paid employees. Our herd consists of 6 full sized horses, 3 mini horses, 1 steer, 2 pot bellied pigs and a handful of barn cats. Our mission is to help veterans, 1st responders, their families and caregivers. Life is hard for those that are no longer in the service, having to transition back to civilian life can be a very big culture shock. The brotherhood they relied on to survive is no longer there, the goals, missions and objectives have disappeared, and their purpose in life can feel like it’s been taken away. That is where we come into their lives. Our need for physical work is abundant and our resources are growing everyday. We become the “family” they lost. Horses are herd animals and the need to connect and be present is hardwired into their brains. There is no judgement, no expectation, no right or wrong, they just are. We ask that you come exactly as you are.

  • Equus Medendi

    Non-Profit Organization
    Redlands, CA 92373

The Words “Equus Medendi” are Latin for “healing horse”. Equus Medendi is an Equine Assisted Learning and Psychotherapy program primarily for Veterans. Sessions are facilitated at Buffalo Meadows Ranch in Redlands. Many of our Veterans are dealing with a variety of issues and providing a therapeutic experience at a ranch as opposed to the traditional in-office treatment has proven to be very effective. Horses are flight animals and even though they are extremely large and powerful, they are also very vulnerable. In order to survive over millennia, they have learned to live in the moment, highly alert, aware and in tune with all that surrounds them. This makes them quite relatable to many who are dealing with hyper vigilance and anxiety. The horse however can teach us how to quickly assess a potentially dangerous situation and recover both physically and emotionally, literally within seconds. As predators, gaining a horse’s acceptance and friendship requires effort such as complete honesty, consistency, respect and calm assertive energy. Horses do not care what we may have done in the past. In other words, the horse doesn’t judge or deceive. Horses accept us unconditionally, reacting only to our behavior in the present moment. What we might hide from other people can be seen and felt by a horse, without us ever having to say a word. Please note that this is not a riding program, all work is ground based.
