  • Disabled Veterans Committee on Housing

    Non-Profit Organization
    Winchester, VA 22602-1316

I am John S. Lewandowski; President/CEO of the Disabled Veterans Committee on Housing, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, also I am 100% disabled veteran with loss of use of lower extremities due to a service connected injury. I like many of you when confronted with my injury didn’t know where to turn and it became almost impossible for me to get around my home, so I had to turn to outside help in this matter. Boy, little did I know how expenses and how time consuming it became; it took over 3 years just to get a contractor that didn’t want to take an arm and a leg for their work. Here is the list of categories that the Veterans Administration will provide grant assistance to our veterans. The categories are as follows: • Debilitating injury such as loss of or loss of use of lower extremities, • Loss of or loss of use of upper extremities (paraplegic and quadriplegic), • Loss of or loss of use of one upper & lower extremities, • Severe burns over greater than 70% of their bodies, • Blindness, • TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury), • ALS and many more... I said that there should be an easier way for us veterans to eliminate all this hassle, so I started an agency that can setup a “One Stop Shop” called Disabled Veterans Committee on Housing. Our Board of Director’s is made up of Disabled veterans like ourselves and we have made the work of getting your home either remodeled or a newly accessible and affordable home built to your specifications.
