LCpl Lutz Buddy Up Program is an effective method by which veterans share in the responsibility for each other’s safety and well-being. This type of active support is important for veterans and their acclimation to civilian life especially those who recently returned from deployment or live in an area without any known battle buddies. Buddies are able to connect with other in person at Buddy Up COPs, online through Buddy Up social media groups, and soon via mobile through the Buddy Up App.

The Center was founded in 2014 by Brian Anderson, retired Green Beret who was deployed in direct combat on multiple deployments and is the recipient of 3 bronze stars, one with Valor and Janel Norton, who served five years in the US Air Force and deployed as a photojournalist documenting conflicts in Bosnia, Liberia and Panama.The center activates post traumatic growth, replenishes camaraderie and trains the mind, body and spirit of America’s Warriors through a wide variety of services available to Veterans and/or their families. The services include a military-style confidence course, gym facility, martial arts, yoga and meditation classes, Accelerated Resolution Therapy as well as a pool and weekly Friday evening barbecues which provide a time for camaraderie and networking. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs' Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program awards grants to private non-profit organizations and consumer cooperatives who can provide supportive services to very low-income Veteran families living in or transitioning to permanent housing.

The VOA/Bill Daniels Veteran Services Center is a "one-stop" location for veterans experiencing homelessness to easily access multiple services. The main program is the Supportive Services for Veteran Families programs that assists veterans in attaining stable housing, but we also have multiple state, federal, county and non-profit partners in the building. The partners provide services for veterans, and we support their work by providing an inexpensive, "shared space" work environment as well as the rooms for meetings and events. Some of our non-profit partners include Team Rubicon, The Mission Continues, Soldiers' Angels, DU Law School's Veteran Advocacy Project and Project Sanctuary. The MENdleton Foundation was created with one simple idea; leave no brother behind. MENdleton started life as a Facebook group designed to build camaraderie and give Camp Pendleton Marines and Sailors a way to exchange extra gear. One evening, though, a Marine, in a dark place and with nowhere else to turn, reached out for support. Within the hour, dozens had offered him the helping hand he needed. MENdleton is comprised of active duty service members and veterans of all branches in two separate functions; a private members only online forum, and our public nonprofit foundation. The MENdleton Foundation is a recognized 501(c)(3) charity which enables us to use generous donations to help us connect veterans, host events, and set up outings as a means to help raise awareness of the suicide epidemic that is plaguing our beloved military. We are a Veteran's Resource Center. We have community resources to assist veteran's and their families. These include a clothing pantry, food pantry, assistance with paying utilities after all other resources are exhausted. Assistance with locating housing and employment. Our veteran's resource officer can assist with various VA paperwork and will be able to explain the process and what paperwork will be needed to request an upgrade in status.
